Sustainability
Built to last. Designed to come apart.

The most sustainable piece of furniture is the one that never needs replacing.
In a world full of mass-produced, disposable goods, 31 Degrees designs the opposite: original furniture made from honest, ethically and sustainably sourced materials, built to perform for decades in the busiest public spaces.
We design every range to be repaired, refinished, reconfigured and, at the very end of its life, taken apart and recycled. And because we design in Perth and manufacture in Australia with local makers, our furniture travels less to reach you.
How we design for a longer life
01
Made to last decades
CoALL is designed for long-term outdoor use in extreme weather, and can be refinished and restored to its original condition after decades of service.
02
Designed for disassembly
Components separate cleanly, so a damaged part is replaced rather than the whole piece, and materials can be recycled or upcycled at end of life.
03
Lower embodied carbon
CoALL's cast concrete can be specified with recycled aggregate made from glass, masonry and building waste, reducing its carbon footprint.
04
Reconfigure, don't replace
Modular systems like CoALL, DuO and Own re-plan as spaces change, so a new layout doesn't mean new furniture.
05
Responsible materials
Ethically and sustainably sourced materials, including Accoya and plantation-grown timber, and aluminium that can be recycled again and again.
06
Made locally
Designed in Perth and manufactured in Australia with local suppliers and makers, keeping supply chains short and craft close to home.
Honest materials

Cast concrete
Left raw and natural, with an optional recycled aggregate. Durable, weatherproof and refinishable.

Aluminium
Precision-formed seats, backs and arms, powder-coated for the outdoors and fully recyclable.

Accoya timber
A modified timber from sustainably sourced wood, chosen for its stability and durability outdoors.

Upholstery
High-durability indoor and outdoor fabrics from Instyle, Australian-made textiles where possible.
